You've felt that pain in your elbow now for a couple of days.
The pain hasn't lessened and your range of motion isn't what it
used to be, so you are now thinking you'll need a cure for tennis
elbow.
Tennis elbow doesn't have to be from just playing tennis. You can
get tennis elbow from any number of different activities including
racket ball, golf, or any number of TV video action video games and
bowling and of course you can injure your tendons in your elbow by
playing tennis. You'll notice that the pain isn't subsiding and you
can actually pin point the exact spot of injury on your elbow. This is
a result of your tendons being injured, stretched and they are now
inflamed.
You'll know the distinct difference in tennis elbow over carpo
tunnel syndrome due to the location of the pain. Tennis elbow will be
located directly in the side of your affected elbow while carpo tunnel
syndrome is located in the wrist and radiates up the wrist and upper
arm.
The best cure for tennis elbow is to start a regiment of exercises
using a light weight such as a can of spaghetti sauce or a can or jar
of fruit, or anything that will fit easily in your hand
comfortably. Sit down and relax and remember, you know how your elbow
feels better than anyone else so take your time and exercise your arm
at your pace and always at your comfort level.
While sitting comfortably, grasp the can or jar lightly and start
to bring the weight up and down slowly in a curling motion like you
would any dumbbell weight. Start slowly and do a few repetitions to
see if you experience any pain. You'll know what's right for you and
how many repetitions to start with. Maybe 5 or 10 repetitions will be
a great start, that's up to your comfort level.
As you strengthen your elbow, the tennis elbow pain will subside
and your arm will gain strength. If however, you don't feel any
improvement in your elbow and it continues to get worse with a good
exercise routine, see a doctor. A professional will know exactly what
steps to take to get you back to your old self and free from your
elbow tendon pain.
